Clients and Employees Celebrate the Retirements of Long-time Partners, Denton Alexander and Jeff Wilde

June 2017 – Orem, Utah – Hawkins, Utah County’s premier accounting firm formerly known as Hawkins Cloward & Simister, will say goodbye to two of its long-time partners who are retiring this month.  Denton Alexander and Jeff Wilde will leave Hawkins with a combined 65-plus years in public accounting.
Denton R. Alexander began his career with Hawkins in 1977, where he focused on specializing in assurance, taxation, and human resources. He has served as President of the Utah Valley Chapter of the BYU Management Society, as a Commission Chair of the Utah County Housing Authority, President of Rural Housing Development Corporation, and on the Technical Review Committee for the State of Utah Division of Professional Licensing.
“Denton Alexander is the consummate professional,” said Michael J. Seely, Administrator of Juab County. “Over the past 20 plus years of my tenure, Denton has always been able to successfully negotiate the hazardous potential political ‘pitfalls’ that may result from auditing government entities. He has always accomplished a very thorough, well-managed, and productive ‘full-fledged’ financial audit.”
“Having worked with Denton for many years, one of the qualities that stands out the most to me is his desire to make sure that Hawkins provided excellent customer service to our clients,” according to Clint Peterson, Partner at Hawkins. “Denton never took for granted that clients had options with whom they could chose to work with and he always wanted to take care of their needs and provide amazing, timely service.  Denton has been a great mentor, example, and friend and he has had this same type of relationship with his clients.”
After retiring, Denton plans on continuing his work with the LDS Church’s CES Audit Committee and also plans to perform family history missionary work with his wife, Marie.  “I will greatly miss my valued client relationships, and especially the great team at Hawkins,” he said.

O. Jeffery Wilde joined the Hawkins family in 1982 after working for a national accounting firm for three years. During his tenure, Jeff specialized in estate planning, retirement planning, foundations and taxation.  He also enjoyed serving in the community in various capacities, serving on the board of a community foundation and working with not-for-profit and charitable organizations. He also supported the arts by serving on a board to help promote a local high school music program.

Ray Beckham, former President of the Beckham Ashe Foundation, credits Wilde with expert advice in beginning the family’s foundation and for his professionalism in doing its accounting for the past 15 years.  “We have benefited from his listening ear and caring demeanor, and the trust necessary to focus on those things of most importance to us.”  “By providing personal, attentive service to his clients during his career, Jeff Wilde has taught others at Hawkins how to combine client business relationships and relationships of friendship,” said Shaun Olsen, Partner at Hawkins.
Shaun believes that Jeff will easily be able to transfer these talents as he looks to provide continued service to his community and church and for those causes he cares deeply about.  Jeff and his wife, Diane, have been called to serve an 18-month mission in Samoa beginning July 24.  He served there as a young man and is looking forward to returning to the islands.  Jeff said, “We hope to be of service to the people of Samoa in whatever capacity we’re asked to fulfill.”
