Easter Fundraiser

Easter is just around the corner and what better way to prepare than by attending an Easter Egg Hunt fundraiser.

April is also sexual abuse awareness month. To raise awareness and funds to fight this issue, The Center for Women and Children in Crisis is putting on an Egg Hunt, family-fun fundraiser. It will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at The Riverwoods in Provo, 4801 N University Ave, Provo.

The Center for Women and Children are creating an exciting, kid friendly environment for the fundraiser. With live music, popcorn, cotton candy, an inflatable slide, and more, it will be fun for the entire family! The entry fee is only $18 family or $8 per person. All proceeds will go to fighting sexual abuse in Utah and all ages are invited to attend.

The live music will be provided by the Utah native band Friends and Fellows.

According to the Utah Department of Health, rape is the only violent crime in Utah that occurs at a higher rate than the rest of the nation. Studies show that one in eight Utah women will be raped and one in 50 Utah men will be raped in their lifetimes.

According to Uniform Crime Reports, the rape rate in Utah has been consistently higher than the U.S. rate. In 2014, Utah’s reported rape rate was significantly higher than the U.S. rate (67.7 and 51.9 per 100,000 females). However, the majority of rapes (88.2%) are never reported to law enforcement, indicating that sexual violence in Utah is grossly underestimated.

The Center for Women and Children in Crisis is focused on provide a caring, advocating, safe, and educationally based environment for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. In fulfilling this important mission, The Center has two locations and administers several programs with the dedication of multiple full and part time staff members.

The Center for Women and Children in Crisis offers support groups, educational groups, crisis counseling, resource referral, safe and secure shelter, therapy group, and more.
